MEMPHIS, June 28 (UPI) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is about to revamp its traditional image with a new logo for its stores and advertisements, a planning official in Tennessee says.
Chip Saliba, a manager with the office of planning and development for Memphis and Shelby County, said the retail chain is set to change from its reserved blue logo to white letters on a burnt-orange background, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
Saliba said the new logo design, which has been filed with planning officials in Memphis, is a vast improvement from the company's previous "boring" design.
"They have had the most dull, boring signs for 30 years," Saliba said.
"The new one is kind of funky looking, but I like it."
The Journal said the logo, which is expected to be officially unveiled next week, also comes with a white starburst company officials hope will offer a cleaner and brighter image to customers.
