Motorized 'anti-gravity' suitcase unveiled

LONDON, June 26 (UPI) -- Live Luggage, a British luggage company, has revealed what it says is the first motorized "anti-gravity" suitcase created to cut down on travelers' discomfort.

The electric case has wheels with small motors that activate automatically when the case is pulled, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

The case balances its weight evenly on all wheels, instead of the traveler's arm, making it feel extremely lightweight, the British newspaper said.

Live Luggage says its case, which costs nearly $1,400, feels light even when packed full of items.

Pressure sensors detect how hard the traveler is tugging on the handle and the wheel motors are then able to move at the appropriate speed, the Mail said.

"Wheelie cases were a great step forward, but they came out 25 years ago, and this is the first real innovation since then," Live Luggage marketing manager Clive Hemsley said. "Power assistance means no more struggling with heavy cases and no more neck, back or shoulder aches."
