WASHINGTON, June 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Arctic Cat ATVs due to a failure of the vehicles to return to idle correctly.

The Arctic Cat model year 2008 50cc and 90cc youth model ATVs, imported by Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, Minn., could have a problem returning to idle when the throttle is released, CPSC said in a statement. No injuries have been reported.

About 6,000 of the ATVs were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships between July 2007 and June 2008, retailing for $1,800-$2,400.

The recall involves 18 models of ATVs, the government said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the ATVs and contact local dealers for a free repair.

Consumers can also call Arctic Cat at 800-279-6851 for information.
