WASHINGTON, June 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Arctic Cat ATVs due to a failure of the vehicles to return to idle correctly.

The Arctic Cat model year 2008 50cc and 90cc youth model ATVs, imported by Arctic Cat Inc. (NASDAQ:ACAT) of Thief River Falls, Minn., could have a problem returning to idle when the throttle is released, CPSC said in a statement. No injuries have been reported.

About 6,000 of the ATVs were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships between July 2007 and June 2008, retailing for $1,800-$2,400.

The recall involves 18 models of ATVs, the government said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the ATVs and contact local dealers for a free repair.

Consumers can also call Arctic Cat at 800-279-6851 for information.
