United to raise fares on cheapest flights

CHICAGO, June 21 (UPI) -- United Airlines says it has moved to increase fares on some of its cheapest domestic flights to keep up with soaring fuel costs.

The average ticket on such flights will jump by about $25 and will require at least a one-night stay on weekend deals starting Oct. 6, the Denver Business Journal reported.

The United fare hikes could be anywhere between $1 and $90 one-way depending on the length of the flight, the Illinois-based company told the newspaper.
