NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices closed lower Tuesday at $133.72 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, as investors anticipate an emergency meeting of oil producers.
Saudi Arabia announced it would raise production by 500,000 barrels a day by next month and called for a meeting of oil ministers from the Organization of Petroleum Export Countries, who will gather Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude oil prices fell 0.73 percent Tuesday to $133.72 per barrel. The price of heating oil fell 0.25 percent to $3.8178 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices fell 0.81 percent to $3.41 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.48 percent to $12.995 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline dropped slightly to $4.078 per gallon, off 0.002 cents from Monday's record price of $4.08 per gallon, AAA said.
