Playsafe merry-go-rounds recalled

WASHINGTON, June 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Playsafe Spinning Quad Merry-Go-Rounds due to a falling hazard.

The merry-go-rounds made by Pacific Cycle Inc. of Madison, Wis., were sold exclusively at Toys R Us stores from January 2008 to March 2008 for $80-$100, CPSC said in a statement.

About 15,000 play sets are involved in the recall. Pacific Cycle has received one report of a child injured after falling from a merry-go-round, which features four yellow plastic seats and framework made of black and silver bars.

The inner bearing on the merry-go-rounds can fail, causing the seats to fall to the ground, CPSC said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the merry-go-rounds immediately and return it to Toys R Us for a full refund.

Consumers can also contact Pacific Cycle to receive a retrofit kit.

For more information, consumers can call Pacific Cycle at 877-564-2261.
