NEW YORK, June 13 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices slid Friday afternoon in New York as the dollar continued to gain strength against the euro and the yen.
"The strength in the dollar is certainly weighing a bit on the price of crude," BNP Paribas analyst and broker Tom Bentz told The Wall Street Journal.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude oil prices fell to $135.11 per barrel from a morning price of $135.40. The price of heating oil fell to $3.83.79 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices also fell, down 0.5176 cents to $3.465 per gallon. Natural gas prices fell 0.195 cents to $12.603 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline reached a record $4.066, up from Thursday's price of $4.06, AAA said.
