Daiso children's jewelry recalled

Published: June 4, 2008 at 8:30 AM

WASHINGTON, June 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Daiso children's jewelry due a risk of lead exposure.

The jewelry, imported by Daiso Seattle LLC of Lynnwood, Wash., could be toxic if ingested, the CPSC said in a statement.

No injuries have been reported, but about 50 pieces of the jewelry -- necklaces and bracelets with Zodiac-sign charms attached -- were sold in Washington State at Daiso retail stores between October 2007 and December 2007 for about $2.

Consumers were advised to take the jewelry from children and return the items to stores for a full refund.

Consumers can also call Daiso at 866-768-4620 for more information.
