K2 snowboard bindings recalled

WASHINGTON, May 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of K2 Sports snowboard bindings due to a fall hazard.

The bindings involved are the K2 "Auto" Series of bindings from model year 2007. About 2,500 pairs of the bindings made by K2 Sports of Seattle were sold between August 2007 and May 2008 for about $230.

A cable that connects the toe strap to the binding could break, causing a hazardous fall for snowboarders, CPSC said in a statement. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers were advised to stop using the bindings immediately and return them to the retailer to arrange for free shipping and repair.
