No injuries have been reported, but the drawstrings could strangle a child, a CPSC statement said.
About 6,000 of the jackets, made in China and distributed by Maran Inc., of North Bergen, N.J., were sold through TJ Maxx retail outlets in January 2007 for about $13.
The recalled item, a brown jacket in girls' sizes small thorough x-large, has a pink hood and pink sequins on the front pocket and includes style number 4JZ642FK.
Consumers were advised to remove the drawstrings immediately or return the jackets to the place of purchase or to Maran Inc. to receive a refund.
