CHICAGO, April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. grain trades pivoted on negotiations in Argentina Wednesday with reports that talks between farmers and the government could be extended.

Corn was up 6 1/4 to up 9; soybeans were unchanged; wheat was off 6 3/4 to off 7 3/4; oats were up 8 to up 9 1/4.

Old corn contracts traded higher today as Midwest farmers hurried to get seeds in the ground ahead of expected rains. Wheat traded on both sides of Tuesday's prices on unofficial reports Argentina may resume exports in May. Soybeans traded narrowly, as cool, wet weather in Brazil hampered harvest progress.

The prices:

Corn: May 6.00 1/4, up 9; Jul 6.12 1/4, up 7 3/4; Sep 6.21 3/4, up 7; Dec 6.28 1/4, up 6 1/4.

Soybeans: May 12.41, unchanged; Jul 12.64, unchanged; Aug 12.64, unchanged; Sep 12.64, unchanged.

Wheat: May 7.87 1/4, off 6 3/4; Jul 8.01, off 7 1/2; Sep 8.15 1/2, off 7 3/4; Dec 8.34 1/2, off 6 3/4.

Oats: May 3.77, up 8 1/2; Jul 3.88, up 9 1/4; Sep 3.98, up 9; Dec 4.13, up 8.
