Beco Butterfly infant carriers recalled

WASHINGTON, April 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Wednesday announced a voluntary recall of "Beco Butterfly" infant carriers because of a child hazard.

The carriers pose a fall hazard to infants, due to a problem with shoulder straps slipping through the shoulder strap buckle, CPSC said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the carriers immediately and contact Beco Baby Carrier for instructions on returning them for repairs.

The company, Beco Baby Carrier Inc., of Newport Beach, Calif., has received eight complaints, but no incidents of injuries were reported. About 2,000 of the carriers, which have a logo "b" one the left side and a butterfly on the right, were sold in January and February of 2008.

The styles being recalled include the Mia, Pony Express, Carnival, Addison, Ethan, Sophia, Cameron, Ava and Joshua.

The carriers retailed for about $140.
