NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- The New York Times Co. Publisher and Chairman Arthur Sulzberger Jr. has rebuffed rumors that the newspaper was for sale, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"The company is not for sale," Sulzberger told shareholders at the company's annual meeting in New York Tuesday.

Sulzberger's father, former Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Sr. attended the meeting, which was held at the company's new headquarters in midtown Manhattan.
