Western Rider Push Toys recalled

Published: April 16, 2008 at 1:26 PM

WASHINGTON, April 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Wednesday announced a voluntary recall of children's push toys because of excessive levels of lead paint.

Importer Santa's Toy Corp. of Los Angeles, Calif., is recalling about 9,000 Western Rider Push Toys that include a long handle that pushes a rider on a horse.

No injuries have been reported, but the gloves, shirt and pants of the rider contain hazardous amounts of lead in the paint, the agency said.

The toys were sold at dollar and discount stores from February 2005 through February 2008 for $2.50 to $3.

Consumers were instructed to remove the toys from children immediately and return them for a full refund.
