Crude prices hit record on supply report

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices posted records Wednesday as the U.S. Energy Information Administration announced a decline in U.S. crude inventories.

Inventories dropped for the fifth straight week in both crude and gas supplies, with crude falling to 313.7 million barrels during the week ending April 11.

The supply fell to the lower half of the average range for this time of year, EIA said.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude prices climbed to $114.89 per barrel, up from the price of $114.29 per barrel Wednesday morning.

Heating oil prices fell 0.0070 cents in late trading to $3.276 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline fell 0.0081 cents in late trading to $2.9309 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.12 cents to $10.419 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the United States reached $3.399 per gallon, up from Tuesday's $3.386 per gallon, AAA said.
