CHICAGO, April 8 (UPI) -- U.S. aircraft builder Boeing is expected to announce this week another delay for its 787 Dreamliner program, those close to the project say.
Executives from the Chicago-based aerospace company are expected to disclose the Dreamliner program will be pushed back 14 months from its original schedule, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Tuesday.
Boeing was to have begun delivering the planes to airlines next month, the newspaper said.
Another delay would be the third setback for the 787. The update call Wednesday "will be critical for Boeing to rebuild credibility," Douglas Harned of Bernstein Research said in a recent note to clients.
"It will be important for management to lay out a time line of milestones, describe the path to meet those milestones and ensure that progress is visible to investors and customers," he wrote.
