Cleaning products are going green

CHICAGO, March 16 (UPI) -- Eco-friendly companies are hoping to clean up the U.S. market, introducing cleaning products that eschew toxic chemicals and rely on water and oxygen.

Several such examples were on display at the International Housewares Association trade show in Chicago, including a line of cleaners from Clorox that adds green to a name synonymous with bleach.

The Lotus Sanitizing System injects ozone into plain tap water and the mixture wipes out germs, odors stains, mold, mildew and pesticides from any surface. It can be used to wash fruit, extending shelf life in addition to making it healthier, a spokesman said.

Bissel was among the companies showing a steam mop that uses only water to clean hard surfaces, included sealed wood floors.
