DETROIT, March 5 (UPI) -- Ford Motor Co. announced Wednesday it will send every employee in the United States and Canada a bonus check of at least $1,000.
Hourly workers wouldn't have received any merit bonus this year, given the company's losses of $2.7 billion last year, a memo sent to employees said.
But, Ford Chief Executive Officer Allan Mulally's memo noted "significant progress on our plan to transform Ford Motor Co. into a lean global enterprise."
The company "fell short of our market share goals," the memo said. But, the company "fully met or exceeded our objectives in every other category, namely cost performance, quality, automotive cash flow and financial results," Mulally wrote.
Salaried employees could expect larger bonus checks, The Detroit News reported.
