WASHINGTON, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall of about 250,000 "Fun-'n-Safe" magnetic dart boards due to a safety hazard.
The CPSC said the Chinese-manufactured toys -- imported by Family Dollar Stores Inc. of Charlotte, N.C. -- have small magnets at the ends of the darts that can detach, posing a safety hazard for children. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal, the CPSC said.
The recalled magnetic dart boards were sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide from January 2001 through January 2008 for about $5. "Made in China" is embossed on the back of the board.
Consumers can return the boards and darts to a Family Dollar store for a refund, or contact the company at 800-547-0359.
