Gifts from the heart help the planet

NEW YORK, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- An online company in New York says its Valentine's Day presents show how much the gift-giver cares about that special someone and Mother Earth.

EarthMoment.com has both traditional and green gift ideas for Valentine's Day, the company said in a news release. The site is a no-cost Internet portal that allows customers to buy their favorite products and services from online retailers such as Apple, Barnes & Noble, Guitar Center and (of course) 1-800-Flowers, while fighting climate change with each purchase, its Web site says.

And whether giving the gift of music, literature, entertainment or flowers, the giver helps the environment. Half of the commission-based revenue EarthMoment.com receives from the vendor goes to CarbonFund.org, a leading nonprofit climate change solutions organization supporting carbon offset projects, the online company said.
