WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall of Chinese-made toy gardening hand rakes due to a safety hazard.

The CPSC said the paint on about 400 rakes imported by Downeast Concepts Inc. of Yarmouth, Maine, contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal standard on lead in paint used on toys.

The recalled toy hand rake has a wooden handle and a plastic yellow bottom. "Backyard and beyond Garden Tools" is printed on the toy's tag, which hangs from the toy's handle.

The recalled toy was sold nationwide between June and November for about $2.50.

The recalled product can be returned to the store where purchased for a replacement. Consumers with questions can contact Downeast Concepts at 800-343-2424.
