Motorola unveils movie studio, music phone

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Motorola, based in Chicago, unveiled a pocket-sized movie studio enabling directors-to-be a chance to film, edit and upload their movies for online viewing.

The Moto Z10 displays videos shot by the user or downloaded at 30 frames per second on a 2.2-inch screen, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday. The device was revealed during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Motorola officials said Moto Z10 users can transition between scenes, add title slides and a soundtrack. Press the camera key and the Moto Z10 becomes a 3.2-megapixel camera that can capture up to three images per second.

"Now, anyone can capture and share life's moments from almost anywhere in the world and make their unique perspective a part of popular culture," said Stu Reed, president of Motorola Mobile Devices.

Motorola also introduced its version of the iPhone, the Rokr E8, a music phone with touch-screen controls, the Chicago Tribune reported. The phone can switch from music to call mode at the touch of a button.

"The real story is the morphing keypad," said Jeremy Bale, Motorola vice president for mobile devices. "(When) it's a phone, it's a phone and when it's a music player, it's a music player."
