U.S.-made kid's feeding seats recalled

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 100,000 U.S.-made children's feeding seats because of a safety hazard.

The CPSC said the "First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats," distributed by the RC2 Corp. of Oak Brook, Ill, has restraining straps that can pull out of the waist strap slots, posing a safety hazard.

The company said it has received 38 reports of malfunctioning straps, resulting in 12 incidents of children falling from the chairs.

The CPSC said the recall includes all "First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats" except those with an "R" stamped inside a raised circle located on the far left and right of the back of the seatback or those with waist strap slots that are nine inches apart.

The seats were sold nationwide by various retailers from November 2006 through October for about $30.
