WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall Thursday of Heat-Wave-brand oscillating ceramic heaters due to a fire hazard.

The importer of the 20,000 recalled Chinese-manufactured heaters, the Collins International Co. of Fair Lawn, N.J., said it received seven reports of the heaters overheating, smoking, or igniting, including four reports of minor property damage to carpets and floors.

The recall involves 1,500-watt oscillating ceramic heaters model EB38005. The devices have a white plastic housing with the name "Heat-Wave" printed in black on each heater's top. A label on the bottom of the product contains the model and the control number "ETL 3090262."

The heaters were sold at Menards stores nationwide for about $25.

Consumers can contact Collins International at 866-877-1889 for more information or visit the company's Web Site at www.collinsinternational.com
