TOKYO, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A Prius minivan is not out of the question says a top executive of Toyota, maker of the world’s No. 1 gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle.
Tokuichi Uranishi, Toyota’s chief of global marketing, told the Los Angeles Times there are no specific plans to develop other hybrid body styles but the idea is “something that is desirable from a marketing point of view.â€
Currently, the Prius is available only as a four-door hatchback.
"I think we should have a minivan hybrid in the U.S.," Uranishi said without elaborating,
Toyota makes a hybrid version of its bestselling Camry sedan and there has been talk of offering a hybrid version of its Sienna minivan. The Estima, a minivan Toyota sells in Japan, also comes in a hybrid version.
