Macy's plans celebrity-studded campaign

NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Macy’s has announced plans for a $100 million fall ad drive starring Martha Stewart, Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson in an effort to bolster sagging sales.

The ads, beginning on television next month, will also feature rapper-producer Sean Combs and chef Emeril Lagasse, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. All currently sell name-branded items at Macy’s.

The $11 billion deal two years ago in which what then was known as Federated Department Stores bought May Co. and grouped all under the Macy’s brand hasn't paid off, the Journal said. Hence, the new plan to put some glitz in the picture.
