FLORENCE, Italy, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Graeme Black, chief women's wear designer at the Salvatore Ferragamo Group Italian fashion house has left the company, it was reported.

Since joining Ferragamo in 2001, Black's work for the house has been well-received by the fashion media, raising the profile of a brand until recently known for silk print scarves and shoes, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Since 2005, Black has been working for Ferragamo, headquartered in Florence, as a consultant. He launched his own clothing label, Graeme Black, with business partner Jonathan Reed in 2005.
