WASHINGTON, July 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Gerber organic rice and oatmeal cereals due to a potential choking hazard.

Gerber, a division of Novartis Consumer Health, initiated the recall after discovering the product might contain lumps of cereal that do not dissolve in water or milk, thereby posing a potential choking hazard.

The product was distributed nationwide, as well as in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

The recalled Gerber products are sold in 8 ounce boxes. The Gerber organic rice cereal UPC is 15000 12504. Gerber organic oatmeal's UPC is 15000 12502. The numbers can be found on the bottom right side of the box.

Consumers with questions can call the Gerber Parents Resource Center 800-443-7237 or 231-928-3000 to return the product and receive a full refund.
