Apple Computer Inc. is now just Apple Inc.

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Apple Computer Inc. is now just "Apple Inc.," Chief Executive Steve Jobs said in San Francisco Tuesday.

The change reflects Apple's maturing from a computer manufacturer long known for its Macintosh machines to a consumer electronics company, he told the Macworld conference after announcing a litany of new products.

"The Mac, iPod, Apple TV and iPhone. Only one of those is a computer," Jobs said. "So we're changing the name. We're announcing today that we're dropping the 'Computer' from our name, and from this day forward we're going to be known as Apple Inc."
