U.S. markets recover from steep losses

DETROIT, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- The Renault-Nissan alliance seeks a U.S. partner, the alliance's chief executive said at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
"A North American (partner) is logical," Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn said Monday. "We have one Asian partner and one European partner."
He said the alliance was looking for "synergies" with a U.S. automaker.
Renault-Nissan held talks with General Motors Corp. about forming an alliance in 2006.
The 2007 Nissan Sentra is based on Renault-Nissan architecture that is also the basis for the 2007 Renault Megane.
