Delta seeks OK to buy 30 regional jets

ATLANTA, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Delta Air Lines is seeking permission to buy 30 regional jets it plans to use to expand its network and upgrade service, U.S. Bankruptcy Court papers say.

It also seeks options to buy 30 additional regional jets, its court filing said.

Deliveries of the 30 Bombardier CRJ-900 jets would begin in September and continue through February 2010, Air Transport World reported Friday.

They will be configured for 76 seats in two classes.

Adding first-class seating to the regional jets would "meet the changing demands of the network," Delta said.
