U.S. markets recover from steep losses

MONTREAL, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A $300 million Air Canada upgrade in 2007 includes electronic boarding passes sent to passengers' personal digital assistants, the airline's president said.
The new system will send a bar code to a BlackBerry, for instance, and that image would serve as the boarding pass, Air Canada President Montie Brewer told Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper.
Passengers will still be able to print boarding passes from computers, if they choose.
The airline's upgrade will also include a new reservations system and updated plane interiors, Brewer said.
"Every seat on every aircraft will be replaced," he told the newspaper.
