Poll: Raises coming for most U.S. workers

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A survey of U.S. employers finds that 92 percent of workers can expect pay raises this year averaging 3.8 percent.

The 33rd annual WorldatWork Salary Budget Survey, which was released Thursday, also found an actual average increase of 3.8 percent for all employee categories for 2006.

Further, the survey projects a 3.9 percent bump for 2007, up from 3.7 percent in 2005. The increase for 2006 is slightly above the consumer price index of 3.5 percent.

The survey polled nearly 2,800 participants in April representing corporations that employ about 15 million workers. The survey's margin of sampling error was not disclosed.
