New carbon dioxide plant for New York

MURRAY HILL, N.J., July 6 (UPI) -- BOC Group PLC, a maker of industrial gases, will build a carbon dioxide plant in Volney, N.Y.

The 600-ton-per-day plant, to be built next to the Permolex International ethanol plant, will be the first carbon dioxide plant built in the Northeast in nearly two decades and will be the only such facility in the region, BOC said Thursday in a statement.

Operations should begin in December 2007.

"This plant will be the third largest in our network of 30-plus CO2 plants around the country. Its location allows BOC to improve supply reliability by moving closer to our customers," a company spokesman said.
