Ryanair wants BAA broken up

LONDON, June 6 (UPI) -- Discount airline Ryanair has called for British airport operator BAA to be broken up to create competition and, thus, lower airport fees.

The head of Ryanair, Michael O'Leary, said airport fees were among the carrier's biggest costs, the Telegraph reported Tuesday.

O'Leary said airport costs will remain high as long as "London's airports are run by one big monopoly. BAA must be broken up."

He also said he plans to move Ryanair plans away from BAA's London Stansted, the carrier's biggest base.
