Apple defends its intellectual property

SAN FRANCISCO, April 21 (UPI) -- California's Apple Computer Inc. wants a state appeals court to uphold a lower court's ruling that only a company may publish its own trade secrets.

Last year, Apple successfully sued to find the source that leaked details of an unreleased product to bloggers.

But the request was put on hold pending an appeal before the California Court of Appeal by the Electronic Frontier Foundation on behalf of rumor site O'Grady's PowerPage.

Apple lawyer George Riley argued Thursday before the appeals court that, "A company has the right to maintain a trade secret as a trade secret," The San Francisco Chronicle said Friday.
