Microsoft appeals South Korean ruling

SEOUL, March 27 (UPI) -- Microsoft Corp. is appealing South Korea's order to unbundle the Windows operating system from the media player and messaging service.

Late last year, the Korea Fair Trade Commission issued the order against the U.S. software giant and fined it $33 million in a regulatory move that resembles an action by the European Commission.

"Microsoft today filed an appeal with the Seoul High Court to review the decision in the Korea Fair Trade Commission case against Microsoft," Microsoft said in a statement.

Meanwhile, since the KFTC ruling, South Korea's mid-tier high-tech companies, like Sanview Technology, continue to sue Microsoft.
