U.S. jobless claims fall unexpectedly

WASHINGTON, March 23 (UPI) -- First-time U.S. jobless benefit claims fell last week by 11,000 to 302,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists were looking for an increase of about 1,000 claims to approximately 314,000.

The four-week moving average was 303,500, an increase of 6,000 from the previous week's revised 4-week average of 297,500.
