Boeing sales: $16 billion in three days

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Boeing Co.'s lead over rival Airbus of Europe in jet sales grew dramatically during the last 72 hours with orders worth about $16 billion, at list prices.

Firstly, International Lease Finance Corp. said Monday it was ordering 20 Boeing 787 jets, the company's long-range aircraft, with four additional options. The order is valued at about $2.7 billion at list prices.

Secondly, Low-Cost Aircraft Leasing ordered six 787-8s worth $780 million at list costs.

Thirdly, the United Arab Emirates ordered 42 Boeing 777s, the company's long-range commercial jet, with options to buy another 20. At list prices, the UAE order is worth about $9.7 billion. The UAE order, announced Sunday at the Dubai air show, is for 24 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LR and eight Boeing 777 freighters. All the UAE jets will use General Electric's GE90 engines and meet QC2 noise standards.

Fourthly, China ordered 70 B737-700/800s, worth about $4 billion.

So far this year Boeing has booked 659 orders contrasted to 494 for Airbus.
