U.S. budget deficit last month was $47.23B

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. federal budget deficit last month was $47.231 billion compared to $57.3 billion in October 2004.

Economists had expected last month's budget deficit to be about $55 billion.

The Treasury Department said Thursday that receipts increased 8.4 percent year-over-year to $149.5 billion, while outlays rose 1.3 percent to $196.7 billion.
