TORONTO, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Toronto-based Nortel Networks Corp. agreed to pay $11.5 million to its new president's former employer to settle non-compete concerns.
Motorola Inc., where Mike Zafirovski had been president and chief operating officer, filed had filed lawsuit after he left the Illinois company and was named as president and chief executive of Nortel.
The Motorola suit alleged that Zafirovski's move to Nortel threatened an unlawful misappropriation of Motorola trade secrets and a breach of multiple non-compete, confidentiality and no solicitation agreements Zafirovski signed with Motorola.
The lawsuit's settlement includes a $11.5 million cash payment to Motorola.
