Companies team for technologies
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- SBC Communications Inc. Thursday said it would adopt the name of the storied company it recently purchased, AT&T Inc.
"The brand known worldwide for telecommunications innovation, quality and reliability will soon become synonymous with the transition to a new era of integrated communications and entertainment services," SBC said in a statement.
SBC's purchase of AT&T is expected to be completed later this year.
The AT&T name harks back two centuries to Alexander Graham Bell and the invention of the telephone.
