News Corp. buying IGN Entertainment

NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- News Corp. will pay $650 million to buy IGN Entertainment Inc., a U.S. Internet game company that also had been pursued by Viacom Inc.

IGN owns Rottentomatoes.com, GameSpy.com, IGN.com, AskMen.com and TeamXbox.com, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

GameSpy.com had 5.3 million unique visitors last year, placing it among the top five destination game Web sites.
