LONDON, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Tokyo-based Sony Computer Entertainment's PSP is being promoted as more than just a games machine -- it plays full-length movies, songs and videos.
Unlike previous game consoles, such as the PlayStation, the PSP will not be a loss leader for Sony, reported the Daily Telegraph.
The PSP will initially be grabbed by 18- to 35-year-old "entertainment opportunists," according to Alan Duncan, marketing director for Sony Computer Entertainment in Britain.
"These are people who are listening to or watching media in every spare living moment and aren't prepared to wait or be told what they should listen to," Duncan said. "That group isn't small any more -- after the iPod there's an enormous number of people willing to use technology on the go."
