Wind turbine blade plant for China

TIANJIN, China, July 21 (UPI) -- Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S will build a $30 million wind turbine blade factory in Tianjin, China.

The plant, expected to being operations early next year, will produce 128-foot blades for 2 megawatt turbines. The facility will employ 240 people and be able to make 600 such blades per year.

Vestas, which has operated in China since 1983, owns about 50 percent of the nation's wind power generation market.

The Danish company has installed more than 26,000 wind turbines in more than 50 countries. It employs 9,600 people and has production facilities in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Scotland, England, Spain, Sweden, Norway, India and Australia.
