South Korea car exports to EU climbing

SEOUL, July 18 (UPI) -- South Korean car exports to Europe exceeded those to the North American market in the first half of this year.

The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association said car exports to Europe jumped 23.4 percent year-on-year to 491,000 units, while 373,000 were shipped to the North American market, Chosun Ilbo reported Monday.

Vehicle shipments to Europe made up 37.3 percent of the nation's total car exports in the first six months of this year, up from 34.1 percent in the first half last year.

Also, vehicles made in South Korea accounted for 3.4 percent of Europe's market share in the first half.
