WASHINGTON, July 2 (UPI) -- Many wireless phone companies will soon offer streaming music to the 60 percent of the U.S. population with cell phones.
Access to online music stores won't be far behind, reported the Washington Post Saturday.
By the end of this year, Verizon Wireless said it will offer a music-store service and a music-player cell phone, while Cingular Wireless LLC is considering a similar deal with Motorola Inc. and Apple's iTunes music store. Napster Inc. and Swedish phone maker Ericsson plan a similar joint venture.
Last December, Sprint Corp. began a music channel service that streams commercial-free music and music videos. Sprint said it plans to work with Sirius Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. to offer more music channels.
