JAL orders six Boeing 767 aircraft

TOKYO, June 30 (UPI) -- Japan Airlines said Thursday it was buying six new Boeing 767-300ER jets from Chicago's Boeing Co. for about $800 million.

Deliveries of the three freighters and three passenger aircraft will begin in 2007 and go through 2008. General Electric CF6-80C2 high-bypass turbofan engines will power the planes.

With this order, Japan Airlines' 767 commitments total 46 airplanes.

The 767 freighter has a 60.5-ton payload capacity and, carrying that maximum payload, a range of 3,270 nautical miles.
