Technology helps dad stay connected

MINNEAPOLIS, June 18 (UPI) -- A poll finds most U.S. dads say they spend less time with their children than their dads did with them, but Best Buy suggests gadgets help dad connect.

The National Center for Fathering found 56.5 percent of fathers say they spend less time with their children than their fathers did with them.

However, electronics retailer Best Buy suggests that with devices such as cell phones and PDAs, dad can e-mail the office from his son's soccer game or text message his daughter while away on a business trip.

"We understand how technology can help dad juggle work and family commitments by keeping him connected to both worlds," said Paula Baldwin, Best Buy spokeswoman.

"While this may be a universal struggle for dads," she said, "we know there is no one-size-fits-all technology solution. We help each customer to help discover the right products and services to keep dad connected."
