WASHINGTON, May 20 (UPI) -- China is not the sole important trading partner for U.S. businesses, the National Association of Manufacturers said Friday.
China may be the focus of attention when it comes to doing business in Asia, but the NAM said manufacturers must look to boost ties with other key Asian economies, including South Korea.
The United States and South Korea should "explore a future free trade agreement because the benefits of trade liberalization could be substantial for both sides," said NAM Vice President for International Economic Affairs Frank Vargo. He added Korea should reduce market access barriers "and other government policies that limit opportunities for U.S. manufacturers."
NAM represents some of the biggest manufacturers in the United States.
